UPDATE | PDP faction extends Makarfi-led committee tenure by 12 months

The political drama in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between its National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff and the governors who are barking the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction has taken a new twist.

Following the failure of the faction to hold a convention at the Port Harcourt stadium, the governors' group hurriedly met at the party's secretariat and took another round of decisions.

According to them, they have extended the Makarfi-led caretaker committee tenure for 12 months to give it time to "consult" and plan another National Convention. Funny enough, there is no provision for "caretaker" in the PDP's constitution. #politics
