Here's what the HND graduates Must Do to be equal with B.Sc graduates (Details)

The Ministry of Education has clarified that the harmonizing of degrees and higher national diploma awarded by universities and polytechnics is not as easy as being speculated.

Spokesman for the ministry, Benjamin Goong, denied reports that the dichotomy between Bachelors and HNDs had been abolished.

There are new requirements HND holders must meet to attain the Bachelors level...
Benjamin Goong told PT on Friday that the ministry lacked the power to end the inequality.

He however said government had taken steps to bridge the gap:
“Two weeks ago, the ministry sent a memo to the National Council of Establishments (NCE) to institute a bridging program for the HND holders and the proposal was approved.

The bridging program is for HND holders who can attend National Teachers Institute (NTI) or any institution offering post-graduate diploma programs, before they can attain the level graduates can attain in the public sector.

As per the approved memo, after the bridging program, HND holders will now be offered jobs from grade level 8 and finish at grade level 17 like graduates. Before now, HND holders were only allowed grade level 7 and finish at grade level 14.

“That is as far as it goes for now regarding the B.Sc and HND dichotomy. Both are still very different from each other,” he said.

In the UK, all you need to do is to apply for a degree top-up course which is level 6 and within 18 mouths you can become a degree holder in the same or similar subject if you pass.

Moreover, Level 7 is the Masters level abroad therefore Nigeria is a backward country.

Since Nigerians with HNDs are allowed to do MA and MSc courses then the Education Ministry is totally wrong and the procedure is a waste of time since it is easier and cheaper to get a Masters degree after HND.

Stop deceiving people.. What degree do you have? Create jobs before this long process. Because the University graduates do not have job.. Is not about NTI
