Governor Mimiko Rushes To Aso Rock Over Jimoh Ibrahim's Emergence as Candidate

Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko met with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed-doors at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday. The governor arrived the president's office at about 11.00am looking troubled.

It was gathered that Mimiko visited the Presidential Villa in respect of the Thursday's declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission that Jimoh Ibrahim is the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ondo governorship election.

INEC had removed the name of Mimiko's candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, from the list of candidates of the political parties that would participate in the November 26 governorship election. His name was replaced with that of businessman Jimoh Ibrahim.

Mimiko said the development is very troubling and he hopes Mr President will intervene.

Let all the candidates test their popularity at the November 26 gubernatorial election, if INEC replaced Mimiko favourite candidate from the list as PDP flag bearer, Jegede should stand in as flag bearer for another party, after all, Mimiko himself won the Ondo state governorship seat under Labour Party before decamping to PDP.
