IGP Idris Ibrahim storms Ondo ahead of governorship election

Hours to the tension-soaked Ondo State governorship election, IGP Idris Ibrahim was in Akure today, where he read the riot act to the police, to ensure a non-partisan involvement in the election.

He called on journalists to appeal to all politicians and stake holders to team up and make the election successful, to meet the aspirations of the people as well as pass all the credibility tests.

He also attended a stakeholders interactive meeting with INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, with the theme: "state of readiness and general conduct of the election".

In attendance were the contestants and reps of all the 28 political parties participating in the election.

IGP Idris made it clear that the police would not connive with anyone, to compromise the election.
