Catholic Priest In Shock As Nigerian Soldiers Search Church & His House For Weapons

According to Reverend father/Bishop, Vesuwe Benjamin who works at Catholic Diocese of Gboko in Benue state, his house and church were ransacked by soldiers in search of weapons.

Read the incident as he narrated below;
'Today my house and the entire parish was turned inside out by the military in-search for weapons. They say I keep weapons, for heaven sake, I don't do weapon. The Fulani herdsmen go about with heavy weapons killing innocent people and never a day has any one of them been harassed by the military.
There are instances where the military have even assisted them to carry out their attacks on Defenseless citizens. The soldiers we have in this country are one sided. Why are they trying to divide the very country they are called to defend on religious line. Would they have done this to an imam or the mosque?'

  3. They know what they are doing. They see the culprits and turn away in pretence.

  4. This is the problem with you people. When they failed to investigate they are not doing their job and when they do they are one sided. So you want them to arrest only Muslims and that is ok to you,they acted on information available to them which must have been given by members of your church who are not happy with how you run the church. So Mr man look inward and don't waste your time on those that don't know of your existence.

  5. It doesn't go down well that any man of God or innocent Nigerian be subjected to any form of maltreatment or dehumanization but it is a well known fact that under a state of insecurity human rights are bound to be restricted or violated & Benue state is facing such a problem basically caused by the Fulani Herdsmen.

  7. The country has ever been divided into two groups base on religious sentiment.I always surprise while we claim to fight for God instead of god fighting for us.let them go and search all houses of worship in the country both mosques and churches.

  10. yes they would not do this to an imam or a mosque; not when the people that call the shots are the hausa/fulani generals. they would also not even dear to harass the herds men because the cows are actually owned by the same generals. the fulanis have terrorized Benue people for so long and the government have found it difficult to restrict their movement, one day monkey go go market and will not return

  11. i guess it was a wrong tip off,on his part he shouldnt have involved imams or mosques in this because we all know how nigerians react to religious issues and this could bring another argument on religious intimidation

  12. So unfortunate because these killer herdsmen go unperturbed killing innocent people, but the soldiers would rather ransack the church than arest the killers.
