RCCG Woman Who Attempted Suicide In Lagos Arraigned, Granted N500k Bail

An Ebute-Meta Magistrates Court, Lagos, on Monday ordered a textile dealer, Titilayo Momoh, to undergo psychiatric evaluation following her arraignment by the police for attempted suicide.

Madam Titilayo, 58, was also granted N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The woman was on March 24 stopped from jumping off the 3rd Mainland Bridge into the Lagoon by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command.

Then, Momoh, who lives in Lekki Lagos, disclosed that she was pushed to committing suicide in order to put an end to her constant sleeplessness and shame occasioned by her indebtedness to 3 Swiss textile dealers, after she was duped. See her when her business was doing well...

The RCCG member disclosed that on several occasions she had attempted to see her Parish Pastor to identify with her problem and for the church to help her raise money, all to no avail.

    1. As in ehn! Sometimes it's like these judges don't even read the case file. How can you charge a suicidal person cash bail, not to talk of someone who wanted to commit suicide as a result of debt?

  3. This is not enough reason to commit suicide madam, and secondly 500k as a bail out is too much.

  8. I'm not so happy with this judgement at all...

Is the judge without any thinking faculty?...

Infact, I put it you that there is no jurisprudence in this country...

Someone that attempts ending her own life out of monetary desperation was arraigned and granted bail for 500k...

    Is that a sane verdict?

The judge should also be subjected to psychiatric evaluation...
